"In 2006, when I heard rumours that Sony was about to release a new BEST OF/GREATEST HITS compilation on Martha Wash, I was really excited because I was sooooooo sure it would contain a couple new unreleased tracks. But unfortunately, it doesn't. You are better off with her 1998 Logic compilation release- THE COLLECTION, that features 14 tracks. This cd has 10 tracks and they are:



1. It's Raining Men (Original 1983 12" Single)- 5:27

2. Everybody, Everybody (Le Freak Mix)- 4:07

3. Gonna Make You Sweat (Everybody Dance Now)- 4:04

4. I'm Gonna Wash That Man Right Outa My Hair

(Original 1983 Album Version)- 5:14

5. Give It To You- 3:49

6. Leave A Light On- 4:22

7. Come- 3:42

8. Carry On (Original 7" Edit)- 3:30

9. Keep On Jumpin' (With Jocelyn Brown)- 4:02

10. It's Raining Men....The Sequel (With RU Paul)- 3:44



What they should have done is given us a whole new collection, to introduce new listeners to her music and provide rare hard to find recordings for all her fans:



1. 1978- Star In My Life (From the LP PARADISE EXPRESS, which is now

available on cd from that Russian Disco Club person on

e*bay, along with Paradise Express's second Lp on cd- "LET'S FLY".

(Martha & Izora only sing on the 1st Paradise Express LP, not

the second one).

2. 1985- Laughter In The Rain (From the Weather Girls Lp-

BIG GIRLS DON'T CRY).

3. 1986- Breakin' The Ice (From the soundtrack- GUNG HO.

Not available on cd).

4. 1991- I (Who Have Nothing)- Duet With Luther Vandross.

5. 1994- Mr. Big Stuff (From the soundtrack- D2: THE MIGHTY DUCKS).

6. 1996- I'm Still Standing (From the soundtrack- FIRST WIVES CLUB).

7. 1997- Magic Charms (From the soundtrack- KISS ME GUIDO).

8. 1997- Hold On Tight (Lambda feat. Martha Wash).

9. 2000- Listen To The People (From the SMALL VOICES CALLING cd).

10. 2005- You Lift Me Up (Put out by Martha's own record label

called Purple Rose records).

11. 2006- He'll Understand And Say Well Done (From the Yvette Flunder cd-

WE WON'T BE SILENT ANYMORE).

12. 2006- Stealing Your Joy (From the Charlene Moore gospel cd

AS YOU ARE I MUST BE. There is a bonus track on the cd,

and it is the Urban Remix of Stealing Your Joy. Martha is only

on the remix, not the original album version).

13. 2007- Keep Your Body Workin' (From the Tony Moran 2-cd set

THE EVENT. It is a remake of the 1978 Kleeer tune).



Now THAT would be a good collection to have of hers! A wide variety of styles and every song a wonderful performance.
