From a review by Dusty Groove America: "A very unique album from singer Marshell Jones -- a talented vocalist with a style that stretches back to the spiritual jazz traditions of the mid 70s. Some of the tracks on the set features Jones singing almost unaccompanied -- in a mode that might be NuSoul, but which opens up more spiritually from the lack of instrumentation. Other tracks have small combo backing behind her -- either playing in groove, as on the modal number "Reachin", or in a more outside style, as on the cut "Fetu Lele". There's a few rough spots -- but there's also some great moments on the set, ones that show Jones as a potentially strong soul talent, with a vision for unique styles that's not shared by her contemporaries!"
