Synopsis

Album Description
Mark Van Hoen is one of electronic music's great veteran auteurs, respected the world over for his work on iconic labels like R&S, Touch and 4AD, both under his own name and as Locust, and his work with Warp artist Seefeel. 'Where Is The Truth' is a stellar, assured return - an album full of carefully manicured, experimental song-based environments and artful electronic arrangements Atmospheric, mood-altering rhythmic grooves, cinematic post-trip-hop textures, filtered soulful electronic shuffles, and coarse beats with quivering old tape samples... all underpinning excellent abstract song-writing. Special guests include Neil Halstead (Slowdive/Mojave 3) on electric guitar and Julia Frodahl (Edison Woods) on piano. This is an excellent addition to his fine body of work.

(5 out of 5 stars)

"Where Is The Truth should deserve immediate consideration as one one of the best albums of year regardless of genre. It has an endless listening quality I seldom find in any release. Mark Van Hoen cut his production and musical skills on many electronic projects and is certainly adept enough to make the kind of music he wants. Out of respect to the City Centre Offices music label out of Manchester I bought this on a whim and boy howdy am I damn glad I did.

What is it exactly? Well grab one and find out. Mark has spent time in Seefeel and Locust if that means anything. Go forth and be an adventurer. These tunes grab hold and don't let go. I don't think I can be more evasive and I'm trying. Dig deep, research, and go find a copy. Tell 'em I sen you. Good luck."
