Synopsis

Amazon.com
Since he released his first indie single in 1994, Morrison has put three songs in the British Top 10 "Crazy," "Return of the Mack," and "Horny." All three singles are included on Morrison's U.S. debut, Return of the Mack. Far more compelling than the revenge-fantasy of the lyrics is the sound of Morrison's nasal, booming voice over a groove that seems to slam a thousand handclaps and drums into each beat. The man behind the sonic boom is coproducer Phil Chill, who once did the same for Neneh Cherry. A lot of artists switch back and forth between singing and rapping, but Morrison is one of the few who can do both at once in a conversational sing- song that combines melody and rhythmic exclamation points. --Geoffrey Himes

"Forget all about Marks personal life. The facts speak for themselves.
The first British Black male to have a number 1 in the nineties.
A number one hit which spent 6 weeks in the top ten and four follow up top ten hits- with a further top twenty hit, Lets get down.
After these facts the best song his ever recorded has not even been released in the charts- probably beacause it does suit his image, Tears for You -that is.
The acheivements may have suprised some who have been reading but just imagine he actually wrote and produced most of the tracks himself!
The Facts: 5 Top Ten Hits
3 Further Top Twenty HitsNot bad from One and Half Albums, and people call this guy a joker!!"

"All right, time to get this anniversary party rollin'! Just lemme lay down this here Mark Morrison "Return of the Mack" remix maxi-single on my CD changer, and we'll be on our way to par-tay nirvana! Ever since I first caught this tune on a local R&B station some time back, I've been wantin' a copy of my own to play whenever I wanted and as often as I desired. Unfortunately, I was faced with a significant obstacle: since I had no idea what the name of the song's artist was at the time (the DJ never announced it on the air), I had to search for the song by title. But that was a bit of a prob, too-- I thought the name of the song was "Return of the MaN", not "Return of the MaCK". So after going through several hundred thousand pages of Google results, I finally hunted this CD maxi-single down, purchased it, and took a listen...

Although I was a little disappointed that the LP/radio version of the tune wasn't present, I thought the C&J X-tended edit was almost as good. The A Capella rendition was surprisingly mellow compared to its instrument-laden counterparts. Pretty amazin' the difference musical instruments-or the lack of them-make in a song when it comes to tempo and feeling, hmm? Speakin' of instruments: if'n you're feelin' up to beltin' out the lyrics on your own, give the Karaoke track (the last one on the disc) a whirl! Sadly, the BeatMinerz mix didn't impress me all that much. But hey, there's always the `next track' button, right?

Oh yes, there's also two renditions of `Trippin', a great tune to bliss to after a hard day's work-or a full day of goofin' off for that matter. I found the C&J mix rendition of this tune slightly more enjoyable than the Salaam Remi Remix. But both are just right for those times when ya just feel like... er... well, tripping I guess. But in a good way of course. Um, tripping that is...

All right... now that I got the jamz rollin', time for me to pop open a couple presents...
