"Awareness of Mark DeGliAntoni implies either a strong love for Soul Coughing or a strong love for experimental music that still has a beat and a tune (and sometimes - gasp - words!). Well, here we have a combination of art and sound that is well worth the two or three listens it takes to get your head around the album. As one who fits into the first of the two categories I mentioned above, I started to love this album upon hearing track 11 (you can practically hear Mike Doughty rasping prosaic poetry over the funky bass and drums) and went on from there. One of my most treasured and esoteric albums."
Can't wait for a new Horse Tricks cd...

"Alright I'm late with a review, I bought the cd a couple years back, but better late than never.
When I first got this cd, I thought it was "fun" to listen to, kind of like a toy, but I didn't really understand it as I would in the days to come afterwords..
"Lost Enfant" is an awesome song, that transforms from carneval sounding music to a deep classical piece that fades away into the next song, a quite piano adlib of sorts. Don't like soft stuff? Listen to "Testy" which goes from a disturbing blare of guitar, into an awesome (dare I say, soul cough-esk) beat.
Extremely original, extremely fun.-Seth"
