CD Reviews

Hauntingly beautiful

"I must admit I was nervous first ordering this CD not knowing if it was going to sound very new agey or have the constant nature sounds, which gets old for me. When I finally played the CD I was in shock. It is incredibly slow, but amazing. I play this CD when I practice a very slow form of yoga and during meditation which at times the CD will put me in tears and I feel very connected.

As I said it is very slow kind of drone sounding, but has subtle shifts and changes that keep you interested, but not to the point it completely distracts you from what you are doing."

"I do not claim to fully understand the significance of Om, or the technical aspects of the musical piece; but I know how it makes me feel when I listen to it, and that is what I wish to share:

I close my eyes and the first thing I feel is the low gentle vibration, perhaps like that of the engine of a boat in which I am floating on a slow meandering river. It is night and I hear in the distance different sounds approaching: sounds of nature like creatures communication through the trees, or sounds of civilization like another vessel passing in the distance, announcing its presence. Sounds approach and recede in the dark as I float along, the drone of the vessel carressing me like a blanket, giving me security and serenity. My mind's eye then might see lights along the shore, reflections twinkling in the river, or hear the rush of a waterfall or shower of rain. Then I find myself floating above the river, my vessel still carresseing me, watching the landscape recede beneath me as the curved horizon reveals itself in the distance. Lights of civilization dot the margins of shores and continents, and I feel myself becoming part of a much greater voyage among the planets and stars, all echoing their sounds and vibrations. Then I feel myself returning, touching down at journey's end, refreshed and exhilirated.

Each time I listen, the voyage takes new shapes. But what always prevails is the comforting drone and vibration of the vessel surrounding me. Like a heartbeat or the soft breathing of a companion as you explore your inner vistas, where the music takes you."
A unique and welcome addition to personal and community libr

""In The Key Of Earth is a musical celebration of the planet as a living organism, including its pulse, breath, rhythms, and cycles. a master musician and student of oriental medicine and the healing arts, Marjorie de Muynck bends and reinvents the boundaries of sound and music through the use of harmonics created with acoustic instruments. The overtones and harmonics are a kind of vibratory expressionist abstraction that is at once captivating, symphonic, and inspiring. With a total running time of 60:01, there are four pieces comprising this memorable CD: Pulse (16:24); Light (11:15); Ancient Aquifer (7:22); and Breath (24:57). Flawlessly recorded, "In The Key Of Earth" is a unique and welcome addition to personal and community libraries, and is especially recommended for those who appreciate the metaphysical concept of 'sound healing frequency'.
