"The Darkest Angel" is a musical adventure, created to give the listener an ethereal, emotional and exciting experience. Mariel's crystal clear voice is radiant, strong and full of shimmering vibrato. Mariel's songs are sometimes sad, sometimes dark, sometimes hopeful, but always full of dreamy imagery and idealism. "The Darkest Angel" is a hauntingly beautiful acoustic song with a touch of strings for atmosphere. The Cure's "In Between Days" is covered sweetly, like an acoustic lullaby. "Surreal Love" is hypnotic and swirling. "99 Lies" and "Spiteful" are wicked rockers about love gone painfully wrong. "Strange One" is trance-like rock. "Weather This Storm" and "Beat Of My Broken Heart" are intimate songs full of heartache.
