"Margaret Whiting's father was a successful composer and she grew up in and around the music business. In doing so, she absorbed the essence of popular singing. Fortunately, she also had an outstanding voice and an innate sense of artistry. Consequently, she became one of the greatest female singers of the 20th century -- although, regrettably, not one of the most famous. Maggie never really sought fame, she just delivered great performances. Although most of her recordings date from the 1940s and 1950s, as delivered by Maggie they are timeless classics. If you're not yet familiar with this outstanding artist but like the great old songs, please give this CD a try."
