Yé-yé tribute and apparent true believer

"2006 retro effort mixing Yé-yé classics with Ukulele and modern instrumentation fronted by former French-Polynesian beauty queen Mareva. Her video of Jacqueline Taïeb's On Roule À 160 is super hot, seek it out; all were done in the groovy Scopitone style (Mareva hosts a French TV show featuring these early protomusic-video jukeboxes manufactured out of leftover WWII aircraft parts). Not all the covers are as successful, Françoise's Le Temps De L'amour is much better, though the dreamy approach is an interesting take, and Laisse Tomber Les Filles is competent but doesn't add much to April March's cover. If Mareva isn't quite in the same league as her Yé-yé heroines, she's put out a very fun and sweet tribute that's clearly a labour of love."
