CD Reviews

Quick! Go get it before it's sold out!

"I have all of Marcus Johnson's cd's and I've never been disappointed. This cd is truly a wonderful addition to my collection of jazz favorites. I actually like all the tracks on Urban Grooves but I think my favorite is 18th St. Loungin' and FunkMaster.I'd recommend this cd to anyone who likes good music, of any genre. Marcus is truly talented and his side-men are a beast as well! Together they work magic. The last cd, Chocolate City Groovin', was sold out everywhere. I suggest you pick it up while you can."
Instrumental R&B at its Best!

"If you like your music with tasty rhythm...you'll love this CD. While it may easily be classified as jazz, there's R&B in every track. There's just no disguising the talent in Mr. Johnson...it oozes out in every track. He shows he can serve it up in both smooth and chunky. The sound is clean, fresh, and worthy of the first slot in your CD player. There are two vocal tracks: On my mind & Is it good to you. Both blend well with the rest of the CD. Roll the windows down in your car, adjust for more bass, turn up the volume and enjoy the ride."

"Marcus Johnson is the next big thing to hit modern jazz!! The first time I heard this cd, I had to keep driving in my car to hear it over and over again! Track number #7 (Is it good to you) has a Jill Scott, Toni Braxton feel to it. Allison Williams teams up with Johnson to bring out the true Urban Groove sound. At the same time this album can be put in the cd palyer and hit the repeat button and let the music take you and yours into the night. The album can be classified both jazz and r&b, I seriously hope that the album gets some serious airplay, so the rest of the country can hear this artist. If you like Norman Brown, Diangelo, Boys 2 Men, Toni Braxton, Sade, Seal, this album has the quality of all these artists. I would highly reccomend this artist to anyone in search of some real music. This album would definately make a great stocking stuffer!!"
