"I received this record from a friend in Kansas City. I was told they were just a local band, but that it was the kind of music I would enjoy. Boy, was that an understatement. To begin with, the lead singer has one sultry voice. The horn section sounds like they have been playing together for years and the lead guitarist must be one of the best kept secrets in the music business. Most of the material are cover tunes, but I haven't heard them before. They have two original tunes, both are very strong but track four, Sweat Like James Brown, is better than 99% of the crap on the radio today. James Brown should be singing this song himself. The title track is a flapper tune from the twenties and has a fresh spin on it. They also do Charlie Parker and Thelonius Monk jazz with authenticity and originality. My GAWD they do "MY Little Suede Shoes" as a Ska song. This is an album I will play for years to come. I hope this band is successful. I can't wait until the next album."
