"The song Don't Cry For Me Argentina is so beautiful, and this CD features all the Dance Remixes you've ben waiting for + the original album version!! The best of the four is the Miami Mix, the full 12" Remix is brilliant! The album version, Miami Mix Edit (the most popular mix) and the Miami Spanglish Mix Edit, are also brilliant! From the film Evita, where Madonna starrs as Eva Peron! Recommended for collectors + true die-hard Madonna fans!! If you want more remixes buy the US Maxi!"

"When Madonna starred in the film Evita, many critics were sceptical. They were silenced, however, when they saw the movie. Many critics gushed that it was Madonna's best-ever film role and it probably was. The vocal training that the international superstar went through to look and sound the part was very demanding and Madonna pull it off. The second single to be taken from the soundtrack to the film was Don't Cry For Me Argentina. It was released in December 1996 and peaked at No.3 in the UK, becoming Madonna's biggest hit for more than four years. It spent 12 long weeks on the chart, and put Madonna firmly back on track as the biggest superstar in the world.

Don't Cry For Me Argentina starts slow and soft. The gentle plucking of guitar strings and gentle violins are very relaxing and Madonna begins to sing the first verse, "It won't be easy. You'll think it's strange. When I try to explain how I feel. That I still need your love after all that I've done. You won't believe me. All you will see is a girl you once knew although she's dressed up to the nines at sixes and sevens with you." Madonna's voice is amazing, and then she sings "I had to let it happen. I had to change. Couldn't stay all my life down that hill. Looking out of the window staying out of the sun. So I chose freedom. Running around trying everything new but nothing impressed me at all. I never expected it to." It's the end of a long verse, and then as the violins rise Madonna sings the chorus, "Don't cry for me Argentina. The truth is I never left you. All through my wild days, my mad existence. I kept my promise - don't keep your distance." A solo violin then plays, and Madonna begins her second verse as the tempo increases, "And as fortune and as for fame. I never invited them in. Though it seemed to the world they were all I desired. They are illusions. They're not the solutions they promised to be. The answer was here all the time. I love you and hope you love me." Madonna then sings "Don't cry for me Argentina," and the audience hums the tune, as they slowly begin to accept her persuasive ways. The tempo then rises and Madonna belts out the chorus once more, as she gains confidence in her portrayal as Eva Peron. The song then dies down and Madonna sings, "Have I said too much? There's nothing more I can think of to say to you. But all you have to do is look at me to know that every word is true!" The song then climaxes with trumpets, violins, pianos and much more in a grand finale.

The video to Don't Cry For Me Argentina is simply the performance that is in the film Evita. Madonna stands on a balcony in front of a big crowd below singing her song. She is very persuasive and converts the audience to love her once more by the end. It really is an iconic scene, and one Madonna should very proud of. All in all, this is definitely the best song to be taken from the soundtrack to Evita - a true modern day classic!"
