CD Reviews

Bagpipe Music that MOVES YOU!!
11/21/2001
(5 out of 5 stars)

"MacUmba's new album is better than the first . . . pure dead brilliant!! Never thought I would hear anything better than the first album. If you like pipe music this has a whole different beat. Caribean drumming with the blood curling skirl of the pipes."
Very good second CD

""Don't Hold your Breath" the first Mac Umba CD, made its debut on my favorite Austin based radio station. The call board lit up like they were giving away a car. Everyone wanted to know what that sound was. If you haven't heard it--it's bagpipes and samba drums. The announcer ended up changing his setlist and just playing the whole CD and for a long while, Mac Umba was top of their request list.

Mac Umba is different, it's danceable, and it's world fusion music at its best. If you like either Celtic or samba, this is definitely a CD you should give a listen to. I have both Mac Umba CDs and very much enjoy them."
More great stuff from Mac Umba

"A wonderful follow-up to their first album -- featuring more of what makes their music great. Bagpipes and steel drums, loud with a fast rhythmn, makes you want to jump up and move. Think techno, but with a scottish/samba flavour. Everyone I've ever played this for has listened politely for the first few seconds (thinking 'oh, yeah, bagpipes....god help me...'). Then the drums kick in and pow! They love it. Their first album had vocals, this one doesn't. That's neither better nor worse, just a difference."
