"Lupara, a death metal band from Chicago, IL may be the next SLAYER. Hard hitting, brutal, yet melodic riffs along with equally brutal vocals. Lupara's self-titled debut album may be one of the hidden gems in the American metal scene. Which is ironic since I've turned my interests to European-style power metal which takes its influence from '80s hair metal bands. Like all metalheads from the '80s, I was into all the great bands from the '80s metal scene, but as an adult now and modern music recording technology, I find that I prefer the less brutal style of music. BUT with that said, a few listens to the samples here at Amazon and a complete song via Yahoo's Music Radio thing, Lupara caught my attention as possibly the next best thing from old school SLAYER. Speaking of which, the one thing that I always disliked about SLAYER was Tom Araya's singing. It just didn't fit with the music...sorry Tom, but with a band's mantra as it is with SLAYER, I was expecting deeper vocals. With Lupara here, you get that. You get SLAYER-esk style riffing and melodic time changes, but with death metal growlings."
