Take a Journey to Casa Villegas.....

(4 out of 5 stars)

"Luis villegas is one of the passionate guitarist. When I heard his debut cd, Cafe ole, I knew that luis has a talent and passion for spanish guitar. In his second album, Spanish Kiss, Luis expressed his feeling beautifully on his guitar. His third Cd,Casa villegas has melodious, romantic, and unforgettable songs. Luis added some new gipsy style with hot latin style music. He has develpoed his music very much. Luis plays beautiful music with some talented and dedicated band. Casa villegas will take you to the place where you feel romance and the magic of spanish guitar.I always admire Luis villegas's music because he is creative and brings latin music into vivid picture. His music takes your pain away and gives you a hope, and it enables you to see the new possibilities in life's journey. My favorite track is number 4 and 5. Buy this Cd, and take a journey to casa villegas. Viva Luis villegas....."

"After listening to Cafe Ole and Spanish Kiss, I was very happy to hear Casa Villegas. I wasn't disappointed. Bienvenidos starts this album with lots of power. It is a great biking song. Entre Amigos displays Luis "hummingbird" riffs in a nice style. Mujer Emamorada is a rare vocal that works well.
The next two songs really go together- Dos Guitaras and Recuerdos de Jerez- and are a masterfull emotional piece that can be listened to over and over again. This is perhaps the highlight of the album. . . .
Until you get to Jaleo, which has a live feeling and some of the best hand clapping and guitars licks.
The next song, Ojos Verdes, another vocal, is apparently written about his baby daughter. The subject matter alone, along with the vocal and percussion make for a very nice song.
What follows is one of the highlights of the album- Whitter Blvd. It is a quitar-piano combo that rocks. The piano really takes off, in syncopating almost off beat fashion that really works.Brazil Magic is a refreshing tune, and is followed by a song From The Heart, that must have made Luis' fingers tired, as he is ripping across the fretboard in many parts.
The last two pieces go together and are the most adventurous songs on the album. Imagine yourself sitting in a bedouin tent listen to a virtuoso Spanish guitar. Pass the humas, pita, and olives! The violin/guitar combo is amazing.
If you like creative, emotional, high energy guitar, don't pass this one up. Luis can play with such feeling.
Other than Phil Keaggy, Luis is in a class by himself."
