CD Reviews

A good collection of blues
Fred Camfield | Vicksburg, MS USA | 02/28/2006
(5 out of 5 stars)

"Lucille is another musician from Vicksburg, MS. She told me once that she started her career trying out as a bartender at a local restaurant. The owner told her she was a good musician. She started out like most musicians getting gigs where she could, but she found a good agent and mostly goes on tours. She has played in Vegas, and been on tours to Europe (have guitar, will travel). She plays guitar and sings.

The CD is a good collection with 13 cuts. They are listed in the Amazon listing, so I won't repeat the listing here. She is joined by various musicians on vocals, guitar, bass, keyboard, harmonica, drums, and horns including: Lillian Almond who does some of the vocals; Paul Brown on keyboards; Norman Bryant on bass and harmonica; John Williams on bass (for "We all Want to Boogie"); Al Gamble on harmonica (for "Saucy");Steve Potts on drums; Bobby Manuel on rhythm guitar; Jim Spake on saxophone; Reid McCoy on trumpet: and Judy Almond, Estelle Almond Stanley, Susan Powell, Darrell Bonner, Ervin Dickerson, and Drew Hayes on background vocals.

When she's not on tour, she and John are at their restored antebellum home in Vicksburg. More recently, she has been back in town playing at Pig Willies - Lucille on guitar and vocal, Luz Ingram on bass guitar and vocal, Rick Lewis on drums, and sometimes John (the owner) or Possum doing some harp playing."
