CD Reviews

And a great sigh of relief

"I was a DJ back in 1978 and one of the songs that was most requested was "Jam". However this entire cd is excellent. From the opening song to the closing. I had this on lp and of course during the years it got lost, so instead of me going to the oldies store and paying an arm and a leg for the album, I ordered this cd. This is one of the best albums of that year. This is like a bag of Frito-Lays chips, you can't listen to this one time only. Jeffrey Osborne of course front and center on lead. The slow cut "We both deserve each other's love" was also a requested number for "slow draging". (That's what we called it in DC. Put this in and listen and just enjoy LTD's best album ever! Enjoy."
WOW!What An Album!

"Alot of people must think that because of the glut of compilations for funk bands that the genre is a single oriented medium. But I tell them that in the case of bands such as Earth,Wind & Fire,Funkadelic and solists such as the immortal Stevie Wonder that soulful, funky music streches splendidly over a whole album. In the case of 'Togetherness' the same applies to LTD as well!

This my friends is a TERRIFIC funk album. And with the exception of the bold, dramatic ballads "We Both Deserve Each Other" and "Let's All Live Together"-both sung rapturously by Jeffrey Osborne this album is ALL funk!!It's also the biggest hit of LTD's career and starts of with the terrific 'Holding On (When Love Is Gone). Some of the cuts owe a strong debt to the Philly funk such as "Don't Stop Loving Me Now".On the other hand the hard grooving "Jam" and the brilliant "Together Forever" COOK and cook deep!!!

I have only heard a small handful of full lenghs by LTD (not counting their hit collection)but even if you have that you NEED this album! It's their best release and they put alot of energy, heart and drive into it.Jeffrey Osborne never sang more emphatically, the band were never any finer and Bobby Martin's production is to die for!!!Crucial for any fan of late 70's funk.pop/R&B and soul. This album crosses all those river flawlessly!!"
I bought this on vinyl in 1978!!!!

"I have to admit this is my favorite LTD album. Yes, I said album because thats what they were called when I bought the original. Dang, how time flies. This is really a masterpiece. Theres something for everyone. If you want to fall in love you can't go wrong with "Concentrate On You". "Jam", is funky and infectious and guaranteed to make you sang along!!. Now, if you want to dance then the disco/funk track "Its Its Time To Be Real" will get yo' groove thang on. If you feel like you want to change the world then "Lets All Live And Give Together" can make you feel like really making a difference. Can't say enough about this album. I love Jeffrey's vocals."
