CD Reviews

Take that, Slipknot!

"This is the only band that has the balls to hoist up the art-rock flag in the sludge of the current music scene. The Lotos Eaters' music consists of urgent, relevant poetry, tidal textures, driving rhythms, and fearless delivery. Eaten By Giants seems to stuff a wealth of progressive, alternative, hard rock, folk, and even classical elements into too small a space, and you don't know which one will be the next to bust out of the basic song structures. Only on the last song, East Side Sonata, do the Lotos' really put all the cards on the table with the kind of forget-airplay magnum opus their old fans have come to expect. All I want to know is, when can I see them live, and when can I get album #3 !"
The wrong Lotus Eaters that turned out to be right!

"When I bought this CD I was actually looking for another band that had a similar name. They spelled their name with the more traditional Lotus - I have no idea where these guys got theirs. When I opened the package and read the back cover, I realized that this was not the band I had been looking for. Imagine my surprise when my momentary frustration turned to utter admiration and elation. Every now and then you find a song, a CD or an album that you just know will someday be a classic. Well this is that CD, and this is that band. I don't know anything about these guys, yet - but they have one more fan that will buy everything they make for the rest of his life!Wow - where the heck have you guys been?Robert Todd"

"It is very rare that you can buy a CD and listen to the whole thing with out wanting to skip over a few songs because they suck. Not this CD! I love it!"
