CD Reviews

A new age version of the more popular songs!
Hector V. Troya | 09/14/1999
(5 out of 5 stars)

"I JUST MADE SOME CORRECTIONS ON THE ORIGINAL REVIEW.I am Ecuadorian, but for me the music of Kjarkas represents a link to my heritage and past. Many years ago, their music ignited in me the desire for a trip of self discovery. Before Kjarkas, I knew and liked the sounds of the many Andean intruments, but aside from "El Condor Pasa", there was not a sizable and accessible representation of good Andean music. Kjarkas opened up a new world for me. Their music made it possible for me to travel in time, to a time where my people were mighty and proud. As someone who has followed them for many years, I was pleasantly surprised with this new CD. The lyrics are from some of their more popular songs, but the arrangements are obviously electronic. The new arrangements blend rather fittingly with the songs to produce sounds which are powerful and yet inspiring. Hearing some of my favorites Kjarkas songs in a New Age version was a treat. I see this project as a step in the right direction, particularly at the dawn of a new millenium.
Bolivians!!

"I'm a Peruvian myself and I have followed Los kjarkas since they were almost teens. They are Bolivans, Their music is Bolivian!! Bolivia and Peru are close countries but they have their own music and their own traditions. They grow and influence eeach other. For instance Los kajarkas has influenced Peruvian Folk, they are a sort of new Panam-Andean Folk, movement that started in Chile with Inti-Illimani during the 60's. Yet it is bolivian style. German Polka and French polka may sound alike, but they are not the same, tell French Alsacians that their music is german... you'll see..Two facts Los Karkas are bolivans and they are the authors of Lambada (Llorando se fue) the rest is nonsense"

"Los Kjarkas are actually BOLIVIAN folklore, not peruvian, do not be misinformed!!!!!! All though the andes extend farther than bolivia, you gotta give credit to those who desrve it. Los Kjarkas are a bolivian product/ producto boliviano. 5 estrellas / 5 stars y mas!!!!!!"
