"The CD ¡MÉXICO! was a major revelation to me. Before I heard it, I had not realized what a rich and diverse musical heritage Mexico posseses. I could not have anticipated, for example, the mystically-powerful, indigenous sounds of Konex-Konex, so inventively interpreted by Los Folkloristas. The entire CD is characterized by artful use of traditional instruments, delightful rhythms, enchanting melodies, and an ingenious blend of colorful sonorities. This group--which utterly shatters the typical "gringo" presuppositions about Mexican music--is not to be missed! I was so impressed with this CD that, when I recently traveled to Mexico, I searched out and bought ten other recordings of Los Folkloristas--all of which achieved the same high level of appeal."
Consistently Wonderful and Surprising

"In this album, you will find breadth of musical styles and traditions, excellent production, and beautiful singing and playing. I found this group through BBC Radio 4's use of the introduction to 'Petenera' as the signature sting for a serialised reading of 'Like Water for Chocolate' in 1994 or 1995, and I just had to go out and buy a copy at a shop in London. Another reviewer mentions finding ten other recorings in Mexico! Too far for me to travel! Amazon, get with it! :-) With your excellent profiling engine, I expect to hear from you as soon as you begin to stock more gems from these talented people."
