Synopsis

Album Description
LONNIE MACK: THE MAN WITH THE "WHAM!" Lonnie Mack--the guitar hero with that unmistakable "wham"-skims the cream from blues, country, soul and '50s rock 'n' roll, then churns it out through his trademark Gibson Flying V, sweet as butter and tangy as buttermilk. Mack is also possessed with a searing set of downhome pipes that can belt out a song with anyone. Sundazed presents three of Lonnie Mack's four Elektra albums, none previously available on CD. 1969's Glad I'm In The Band spotlights Lonnie's vocal talents on songs ranging from New Orleans R&B to roadhouse hillbilly. Whatever's Right is the smoothest country/soul sourmash blend this side of a Tennessee distillery. And 1971's The Hills Of Indiana, waxed in Muscle Shoals and Nashville, is a country-dominated gem. Essential to Mack's legacy, these three discs are smoking-gun evidence: Lonnie Mack was as close to a guitar god as America has ever produced.

"Lonnie Mack is a legend, & this CD is an example of why (no pun intended!).......his amazing voice and staggering talent as a guitar virtuoso is in great form here; listen to the fresh version of MEMPHIS; WHY sounds more soulful than ever; the title cut, IN THE BAND rocks; in fact, all selections are magnificent.......Lonnie was the bridge between the Ventures and Jimi Hendrix; he is an American treasure.....this CD will leave you wanting more............"
