Synopsis

Album Description
"In every lick and harmony, these guys take the long view of the music they love, from its traditional roots in the southern mountains, to the first classic ensembles of Bill Monroe, Jim & Jesse, and the Stanley Brothers, to the newgrass revolution ignited by Crowe's band, The New South." - from the liner notes by Scott Alarik

Six years have passed since the last recording from bluegrass supergroup Longview, and Deep in the Mountains marks their much-anticipated return. Original members James King, Don Rigsby, and Marshall Wilborn are now joined by J.D. Crowe, Ron Stewart, and Lou Reid, resulting in a potent new lineup with the chops, discipline, and heart required to make the bluegrass tradition come alive. From the first note to the last, Deep in the Mountains is a striking update of the band's long-held goal: soulful old-school bluegrass with soaring lead singing and riveting three-part harmonies.

CD Reviews

Bluegrass at its' best

"Take six very talented men that are dedicated to traditional Bluegrass music. Add 12 excellent songs. Sit back, relax and enjoy. The original Longview was a treasure. This new group is every bit as dedicated and talented as the original was. They have produced a CD with no bad tracks and several excellent ones. Eating out of your Hand and Baptism of Jessie Taylor are my favorites. Georgia Bound, Cotton Eye Joe and At the First Fall of Snow cannot be ignored and are uniformly excellent. I did not find a bad track on the CD and do not feel there is filler or a weak sister track. Well worth having, this CD is one you will enjoy and play often."
Love it.

"I ordered this CD from Amazon.com. No complaints on their service or shipping.

The music itself is great. These guys harmonize so well. The first time I listened to it was at work on my computer and head-phones and I felt like just sitting back and closing my eyes and stop working.

My favorite track is "Weathered Grey Stone", by far, but no complaints about the others. They're all good with none that I skip over. Other notables are "Baptism Of Jesse Taylor", "I'll Love Nobody But You" and " Georgia Bound" which are just fun to listen to.

I am very pleased that I purchased this album and highly recommend it."
