Longacre formed about two years ago as an outlet for a small group of Milwaukee musicians to play and make songs. Regular get togethers, songwriting sessions and a few well-chosen opening act spots in Chicago and Milwaukee have led to a catalog of more than two dozen original songs. In October 2006 the band began recording at Butch Vig's legendary Smart Studios in Madison, WI. The core group is made up of Claire Chin (piano, organ & vocals), Michael De Boer (guitar & lap steel), Damian Strigens (guitar & drums), and Ken Hanson (bass guitar). Other local musicians join in for recording, playing and performing as well. The songs are intimate, texturally rich visits to emotional spaces in human relationships and the course of life. The music blends genres: Rootsy Americana with some eastern and world beat flavors.
