Synopsis

Album Description
They weren't Liverpudlians...but they were 100% British! The Liverpool Five forged their tough-as-nails R&B/Beat sound in the unforgiving clubs of London and Germany, and then on concert stages across the Far East, before relocating to the US West Coast, where they set about invading America from within! Signed to RCA Victor in 1965, they recorded two powerhouse albums and a string of wild 45s, melding the heart and craft of the British Sound with the fuzz and snarl of American Garage. The Best of the Liverpool Five is an all killer-no filler collection of the group's very best rocking single and LP cuts, perfectly mastered from the original RCA Victor analog reels and dressed with detailed liner notes and loads of rare photos 'n graphics. This is a crucial document of a significant - but until now much overlooked band - that helped define the sound of raucous `60s rock & roll!

CD Reviews

Best of the 60's
C. Cobbs | Seattle, WA USA | 05/06/2008
(5 out of 5 stars)

"I was so happy to see this new CD. This band showcases some of the best music of the 1960's although their music is really timeless. Here in the Pacific Northwest, the Liverpool Five was THE top band of the era. Their shows always drew very large crowds. Too bad their record company didn't promote them well enough -- they should have been number one across the nation!"
This CD rocks!!!!!!

"This CD is not only for those who grew up in the 60s and 70s. While those of us who did have known for years how great this group actually was, younger people will also love this CD. The songs performed here are timeless, and some were years ahead of their time. The guitars, drums and keyboards are fantastic, as is the strong, sexy voice of the group's lead singer (check out "Heart"). Combine that with the melodious voices of the other band members, and you've got yourself a winner! I can't wait for CD #2 to come out."
No Sister Love compilation!

"Liverpool Five's cover of "Sister Love" absent on this CD leaves a gaping hole that cannot be filled!"
