CD Reviews

One of the Last Great Urban Blues Guitarists....
yygsgsdrassil | Crossroads America | 12/20/2001
(5 out of 5 stars)

"....this is a great place to start with him, but he's had so many albums out since this seminal Stax/Memphis (he's curently with the great folks at Malaco Records) recording. He's backed by the legendary Lester Snell on keyboards, the Memphis Horns (if you find any CD or album by that group, snap it up, pronto!), Willie Hall on drums and other great band members. The title cut, is one that you'll liable to hear on the Friday Fish Fry blues show at one of your in-town venues. It's a classic. It also has "Somebody's Tears" by Denise Lasalle, "Eight Men and Four Women" (a classic R and Bee smoker) and "Letter full of Tears" by Don Covay. Also, not to miss (but on another CD) is his version of "Little Blue Bird"...but like I indicated earlier also, his current jams are to be reckoned with. A must hear for blues fans."
Funk yes!

"if you like some funk mixed in with your blues, this is the disc for you. little milton, guitar master, mixes in the 70's funk sound with some back street blues. cover it with his silky vocals and you have some fine listening."
