Synopsis

Product Description
Little Bushman are back with their second album, 'Pendulum' -- a musical journey that swings through our past, present and future, with the full band laying down rhythm tracks live to capture that special energy, (in the same way they did on their 2006 debut 'The Onus of Sand').

Sonically, 'Pendulum' is much broader than 'The Onus of Sand', with chief songwriter Warren Maxwell adding Nord keyboard, 12 string and electric guitar, harmonica, saxophones, tambourine and piano, to his usual blend of vocals and Rhodes piano. Bandmates Joe Callwood adds acoustic guitar; Tom Callwood brings violin, cello, electric bass and vocals; while Rick Cranson complements his drum kit with additional percussion and vocals.

Guests on 'Pendulum' include Toby Laing on flugel horn, Nick van Dyke on trombone, Jeff Henderson on baritone sax and shanta, Richard Nunns on taonga puoro, Lee Prebble on lap steel and vocalists Lisa Tomlins, Rachel France, Stephanie Hearfield and Gillian Moorman.

Little Bushman collectively agree on themes and topics to write about -- and the underlying theme of Pendulum is the global imbalance between economy and nature. This band firmly believes music has the power to awaken and unite people. The result is a thought provoking psychedelic journey taking in how we exist within our environment, our history and the way we treat one another. Be prepared to be taken on a musical journey of purples, blues and hazy oranges, with musical influences from the likes of Cream, Led Zeppelin and Jimi Hendrix, beneath that uniquely NZ style.

'Pendulum' was recorded and engineered by Lee Prebble (Black Seeds, Fly My Pretties, Phoenix Foundation, The Inkling) at Erskine College in Island Bay, Wellington. The album was mixed by Prebble and produced by Little Bushman at Prebble's studio The Surgery in Newtown, Wellington.
