Album Description
Inveterate bopper, tenor saxophonist Halliday was a hero to the younger generations of Chicago jazz musicians, including the likes of Eric Alexander (who recorded "Stablemates" with him, available on Amazon) and Rob Mazurek of the Chicago Underground Trio and Isotope 217 who, in his formative years, performed live with Halliday. Halliday spent his early days in the employ of Maynard Ferguson, Philly Joe Jones and Louis Bellson. Ira Sullivan collaborated with Halliday on multiple Delmark recordings (available on Amazon). Sadly, Halliday passed away in 2000, but this newly released recording is a testament to his skill and spirit. With Jodie Christian on piano.
