"Laswell dubs this his own way. Rather than attempting to impose structures on the original tracks, he brought out the essential spirit of each performance (it's been said that there is a connection between 'dub' and 'duppy', a Jamaican folk term for a malevolent spirit), retaining enough of the vocals and other melodic parts to identify each piece, but primarily focusing on creating a haze of atmosphere around the rhythm instruments, arranging the sounds into blocks of structure. The last two tracks are taken from a live performance given at the Elysee Montmartre, and illustrate the faithfulness to the original tracks within Laswell's creativity."
