Mix The Vibe: 27 Years in the Mix by Lil Louis
03/28/2002
(5 out of 5 stars)

"This CD is an excellent mix performed by DJ Lil Louis who I remember hearing DJ at the Bismark and several other Chicago locations during the late 80's to early 90's. It plays like one continues flow of soulful house music. Blends are very tight and the selection is very nice. I'm glad Louis decided to produce a mix compilation of some of his work. Being a DJ myself and having heard him live but not for several years, I enjoyed this mix and would encourage any lover of deep/underground house music to purchase this CD. The day I received the CD, I played it relentlessly all day. I would like to see Lil Louis produce another mix compilation as I feel his style of mixing reflects the true character of soulful, deep, underground house music. Louis, you're still the MAN ON THE TABLES!"
Still bangin'

"One of the true pioneers. If you've seen him live you'll recognize his incredible style. If you haven't then this is your chance to hear the master at work. Buy it."

"It seems everyone and their Mom's doing mixed comps these days. For this particular one, at first, the playlist looked like other comps out there, nothing too special... but, after previewing the whole thing on their main site I was convinced that besides the tracks, Mr. M. Louis Burns got a couple of tricks up his sleeves, so BAMN! I got it, you should too... Warning: don't expect an explosion of turntablism and other gimmicks, give it time to build..."
