Synopsis

Album Description
In the wake of the radio success of our first collection of the wonderful music of Chuck & Mary Perrin, Rev-Ola proudly presents "Life Is A Stream", an expanded edition of their superb and fabulously rare third album. Featuring the unique intimate vocal style of Chuck and Mary in a new setting of expanded instrumentation in contrast to the exquisite minimalism of their other recordings. Briefly, in 1971, after having toured the circuit incessantly to mounting success, Chuck and Mary ran into their friend Irving Azoff, even then a budding super-manager. He set them up with legendary Chicago promo man Peter Wright (whose credits in Chicago Pop and Soul need no restating here!). Peter had started two new labels, Twilight for blues and soul, and Sunlight for pop and rock.

CD Reviews

Good, melodic Sunday afternoon album
Karl Kunkel | High Point, NC USA | 11/25/2007
(4 out of 5 stars)

"A friend got me this album the other day as a gift --- and it was a terrific gift. I've been trying to find out more about the brother-and-sister duo of Chuck and Mary Perrin through Google and other sources. But there's not much out there for background on the group or the album. I believe she passed away in 2003, and Chuck has continued with his music.

The 23 songs on this album are all top quality, with a lot of work behind each. The duo makes for a good vocal team, and the musical instrumentation fits right into the mood of the album. I took a long drive recently and took the album with me to play without any distractions. It's a great road album.

I'd compare Chuck to deceased singer Jimmy Spheeris ("Isle of View" and some others). Mary reminds me of the late Sandy Dennis (of Fairport Convention) and also Julie Tippetts. They produced some very personal, sentimental songs. Not party music, by any means, but good music for sitting in front of a fireplace with someone you care about."
