The orchestra and recording quality are quite good, however, the soloists are a rag-tag bunch of second rate provincial Italian opera house singers. There is frequent under pitch singing particularly in ensembles where can-belto competition generally rules. The lead tenor is very strained. Only recommended to students of verismo opera not the general public." |
