Hidden Treasure
G. L. Bender | Alexandria, VA USA | 03/18/2001
(5 out of 5 stars)

"Lenny McDaniel is just amazing. After years of living and working in LA, touring with Stephen Stills, backing such notables as John Mayall, Lenny has returned to his New Orleans roots where he plays local clubs and works on getting out a new recording every couple of years. "Worth the Price" is a sea change from his first CD, "Bad for Me." Moodier, more reflective, largely acoustic rather than the driving electric guitar of his first album, "Worth the Price" was recorded in Europe and Lenny toured there extensively to promote it. "Worth the Price" is a bittersweet transition between the first album and his latest return to his roots, "The Blues Side." I like this album, but couldn't get it in this country when it was first released and had to have a friend in France send me a copy. Now Amazon has it and everyone can enjoy it. It amazes me that more people aren't raving about Lenny, proving that it isn't enough to be good...you have to be lucky too. Perhaps that was the inspiration for "The House Always Wins.""
The Soul of New Orleans

"This guy has got to be the most under-rated artist out there! He writes his own music, plays guitar, plays piano and sings with such SOUL. This album has a ton of New Orleans musicians on it and the production is fabulous. If you like this, check out "TIRED ANGELS"-more rock driven and "THE BLUES SIDE" a mix of blues soul and funk. check out Lenny Mcdaniel.com you won't be disappointed!"
