The Lennons pure voices bring back fond memories.
(4 out of 5 stars)
"The Lennon Sisters and their unique harmonies are a rare find in the music of yesterday or today. Some of my most cherished memories as a child are brought back listening to the Noel CD. It's too bad the other Christmas albums have not yet been remade. Songs like Christmas Island and the Little Drummer Boy. Those are classics, but this album is excellent on it's own merit. The Lennon Sisters were the best part of The Lawerence Welk show, which was a Saturday Night ritual at our house in the 60's. Their music is appreciated by this late baby boomer even today!"
Missing Other Songs
(4 out of 5 stars)
"The Lennon Sisters were great, no doubt about it! I agree with the reviewer from Seattle, WA: we are missing their other Christmas songs! "Christmas Island" and "Little Drummer Boy" were already mentioned by this reviewer; but I especially long for "Rudolph, the Red-Nosed Reindeer," "Jingle Bells" and "I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus." There cheerful renditions are among the very best ever made! I'm just glad ANY of their music is available on CD! And I'm very glad my parents had such good taste in music!"
Excellent "crooner" style christmas cd
(5 out of 5 stars)
"The Lennon Sisters NOEL, is an excellent christmas cd, one of my favorites in fact. It has a style, especially in the music, of "crooners" like Frank Sinatra and Perry Como, and also a little bit of Percy Faith. Their singing is also like Perry Como`s or Frank Sinatra`s, but female of course. This is definitly easy-listening, crooner style christmas music. And done as great as the best. Super songs are CHRISTMAS WALTZ (maybe my favorite version), (THERE`S NO PLACE LIKE) HOME FOR THE HOLIDAYS, WHITE CHRISTMAS, HAVE YOURSELF A MERRY LITTLE CHRISTMAS, and a new (at least for me), great christmas song, LULLABY FOR CHRISTMAS EVE, and all the other songs are great as well. There are also some traditional religious christmas songs in the second half, done well might I add, but most songs are the modern traditional christmas songs like the ones I mentioned. I believe all these songs were recorded in the 1960`s and I can tell you, every one is good. An absolute must for your christmas collection."
