Syd Barret?!?
02/02/1999
(5 out of 5 stars)

"I honestly think that if Pink Floyd's Syd Barret were still in that band, this is the kind of music that Floyd would be making in the 90s. Lead singer Edward Ka'Spell even seems to cast suggestions along those lines as he quotes Floyd in the opening track, "Joey the Canary", by frantically asking "Is there anybody Out there?". The Pink Dots are not for everyone; most of the songs are unconventionally structured and are challenging sonic constructions. Masterpieces like "We Bring the Day" show what this crimially underrated band is fully capable of, and I wonder why more Deadheads have not caught on to the "Space"-esque textures of these wonderful musicians."
