CD Reviews

Sly WIley

(4 out of 5 stars)

"One of the most under rated vocalist is Lee Wiley, in my book. Her delivery amazes me because she doesn't fall back on improbable intrepations or vocal high wire tricks -- she takes the lyric and delivers the song in a straight forward manner with ease and grace, as only a professional could do.

Her phrasing just flows and she never seems to be out of sync with the band or the true nature of the songs she sings. Unfortunately a personal favorite "Hands Across the Table" is missing from this cd, when it was on the original vinyl. Our loss. But the rest of the songs represent the wide range of talent this woman possessed and the bands that accompany her are no slouches either.

If you're up for tender (Here In My Arms), sweet (My One and Only), sly (A Little Birdie Told Me So) or sad (Street of Dreams)or swing (I've Got Five Dollars) you can have it all with this cd.

Except, of course, Hands Across the Table which a romantics wet dream."
