"I first heard this CD at Tower records and bought it after listening to just the first two tracks. Lee Feldman is a songwriter whose musical arrangements perfectly match the intimate tone of his songs. His songs are extremely engaging, and seem deceptively simple, at first. After several listenings, they're still engaging, but not so simple. This is music to be enjoyed on a variety of levels. And this is an artist whose talent has yet to be appreciated. Excellent production by Roger Peltzman, too."
Living it All Wrong is a potent hybrid of pop styles.

"Lee Feldman's debut is a forceful mix of pop and jazz musical styles -- Randy Newman meets Art Tatum. Lyrically, the songs are minimalist yet emotionally complex stories and diary entries. They present a distinct, urban-outsider point of view full of the quirky details of everyday life. The song structures are not overtly complex -- there are no splashy dynamic changes or dramatic rhythmic shifts. They quietly meld a variety of styles, from Stephen Soundheim to stride piano. Listeners who enjoy those piano-playing singer songwriters who mix traditional styles with their own specific viewpoint and musical approach -- early Billy Joel and Randy Newman, and latter-day Tom Waites come to mind -- will no doubt enjoy this recording. Feldman's touch, as pianist, singer and writer, is subtle but searing."
I can't wait for his next CD

Move over Ben Folds! You've got a little competition!

"By not being a Ben Folds fan like 99.99% of the rest of the world, people might say I'm out of touch with the times. Call me old-fashioned but I want to hear something that qualifies as music and not as white noise. In looking for somebody who could give Ben Folds a run for his money, I found the perfect substitute. Feldman's style is a little quieter and jazzier than Folds'. He can be as dark and menacing as any alternative rocker or as light and upbeat as any pop star. The former is shown perfectly on the title track with a highly audible bassline that makes an electric guitar almost unnecessary. For those who want Ben Folds' kind of music and lyrics, but with a little more truthfulness and honesty added to them, this truly is the perfect substitute."
Feldman Makes It Sound Easy !

"Lee Feldman is a wonderful songwriter. His music falls somewhere in that twilight zone between jazz and the popular stuff. The songs come across as deceptively simple sounding, but are actually quite rich and multi-layered. I continue to discover new facets to the music each time I listen. The songs are guaranteed to grow and grow on you. The song, "If I Were You", is especially moving, and builds up to a symphonic sounding movement, describing the loneliness in a life, the deafening silence in the night. In this way the songs are also deceptive. Beneath the simple, light, airy melodies, lies a much darker landscape."
