CD Reviews

Leeann is incredible.

"Jeremy Stieg is not. The producer really messed this album up, but Leeann's incredible talent shows through anyway. It must be very frustrating to have a debut albut get so strange when a producer has several crazy ideas that they insist upon. Anyway, Leeann, wherever you are, we are waiting for another album!!!"

"You know it is wild to hear someone as great as Leeann matched up with Jethro Tull. I mean, I get more pleasure out of listening to the whistling sounds created by placing the working end of my shop-vac up to my ears. This guy blowing across the open end of a jug was a suprise. It reminded me of the old Andy Griffith show when the hillbilly family would come to the house and jam with Andy and Aunt Bea. At the same time, I'm sure it isn't the only blowing that guy has done. He's been around awhile. It took a psycho producer, that chose to ramrod the owners of the record company in the liner notes, to think of putting a horrid, odious music-less panflute over the top of a pianist that is capable of leading the finest of bands, no matter the size. You have to wonder what was on Walter Becker's mind, or up his nose, when he forced this decision down Leeann's throat. And, why would he jeopardize the success of a debut album for a great young talent by trashing the owners of the label in his section of the liner notes? How petty could he possibly be. First he sticks Leeann with Jethro Tull (Jeremy Steig or Stieg, it doesn't matter, he can't play) and then he writes vitriolic liner notes! Here's to Leeann for not committing a felony, and being such a great musician!"

"Leeann is one of those people who have internalized the harmonic and thematic heritage of classical music as well as Jazz. Echoes of Stravinsky, Scriabin, and Ravel as well as Ellington form the harmonic underpinnings of her solo style, an organic, natural, fully digested foundation, which is never forced or pretentious in practice. The result is rich and moving without a hint of sentimentality. She will never go out of style with musicians."
