Synopsis

Album Description
Laura Preble's Voices In My Head is a brilliant album of smart, edgy and evocative tunes, written by and sung by Laura with a top-notch ensemble of fantastic musicians. The songs range from up-tempo pop-rockers to moody ballads and jazz. Laura's lush, bluesy alto has been compared to that of Bonnie Raitt, and her compositions evoke the song-styles of Joni Mitchell, Laura Nyro, Sarah McLachan, and Tori Amos. The songs on the C.D. are filled with piano, guitars, horns, a choir, a string quartet, and percussion, for an incredibly well-produced sound.

"Laura has a beautiful voice with sexy overtones. She's backed by a great group of musicians. Her lyrics are very thought provoking. Every song is original and her poetry is awesome. This girl is going places and we can all hope she hears more "Voices in My Head""

"When I first stumbled into Laura Preble it was a simple case of pure coincidence. A small coffee house with a side room with seating for fifty people and a full size grand piano on stage. It was the perfect setting in which to ingest this artist's solid feeling and superbly dynamic music. As a former proffessional musician I rarely stay to watch these informal showcases. In this case not only did I stay for the rest of the evening, I left with the CD and didn't resent the $16.00 price tag. Part of the proceedes that evening were to be donated to a womens abuse prevention foundation. Either way the CD has been well worth the price. The first cut is entitled "I Believe" and in addition to the bluesy feeling lyrics there is a good share of accomplished accompanyment of Flute. This mixture of a number of different horns and woodwinds along with Piano is a recurent theme throught the CD and is a welcomed and refreshing twist. Many of the cuts exhibit a first hand experience pespective that lends considerably to the feel of the music. The cuts range from rock rythems to Blues and Jazz. Laura Preble is a local musician in San Diego California and through pure will has managed the production and distribution of "Voices In My Head". What great luck for for all the lazy listeners like me in the world!"
