CD Reviews

Since I Fell For Laura
Handsome | Chicago, IL United States | 04/29/2004
(5 out of 5 stars)

"I remember this woman was I was a young boy, but had none of her singles. Her voice is raspy & soulful, and she can get a song across. Listen to such singles as: Women's Love Rights, Since I Fell For You, Love & Liberty, Rip Off & Crumbs Off The Table (originally recorded by the group Glass House-with Scherrie Payne, later of Supremes fame & Freda's sister on lead vocals).
I wasn't disappointed."
A '60s drag queen's delight!!

(5 out of 5 stars)

"Several of the songs in this package were hole-in-the-wall club winners in the underground night-life club scene in East Austin during the '60s. Three cuts: Women's Love Rights, Rip-Off, and Since I Fell for You, were show-stoppers! Female impersonators tore the house down with their lip-syncing strong/gritty vocals Laura possessed!! The crowd came from blocks around to see the queens! Just listening to these songs takes me back to the funky '60s!!"
