Another classy album by Laura Fygi

"With 'Rendez-vous' Dutch vocalist Laura Fygi has delivered another gem of an album. Again, Laura has selected a certain theme for the album, this time being her French roots. Apparently, she was raised bilingual (french/dutch) by her parents. This album is her take on jazzy evergreens, all performed in french. Laura, her band and her producer know how to create an intimate atmosphere. Actually, her band had quite an input on several of the arrangements on the album. Several of the songs have a certain gypsy flavour, most evident on 'Nuages' and 'Caravane'. The latter is one of my favourites on the album. Laura's sensual, husky voice is a perfect match for her swinging band and Stochelo Rosenbergs' guitar playing. Laura has a unique voice, it's truly one of a kind and her phrasing is impeccable. This album offers pure listening enjoyment from start to finish. High quality CD's like this are very rare these days. Enjoy.
To enhance your listening enjoyment even more, I highly recommend the special edition of this album, including a bonus CD with english versions of all tracks (with the exception of tracks 5 and 6).
