"While opinions differ on the movie, the soundtrack for The Last Emperor is pure delight from first note to last. David Byrne (of Talking Heads fame) might seem like an unusual choice to contribute to the soundtrack, but it's very apparent he studied the film, worked hard, and composed some masterpieces.

This soundtrack makes the movie, no doubt about it. The authentic Chinese instruments lend audio authenticity and transport the listener to a magical world of musical make believe. If you liked the movie, you will LOVE the soundtrack. Highly recommended."
