CD Reviews

Number 1 Musician In The World
Michelle | Northridge, California | 05/28/2001

"From first seeing Lao at a fair in Westlake, CA in 1996, I can honestly say he is the most inspiring, dedicated and emotional musician in the world. He has come a long way to where he is now and Golden Soul has by far the most relaxing and at the same time most moving mix of instrumental sounds. Pearl Street along with Fire and Ice are just two of the many excellent compositions on this CD. This CD is a must have for all ages and I strongly recommend it. Let it take your mind into a whole new world of music!"
The best CD I own in its category

"I too bought this in Newport Beach, CA, while listening to him in an outdoor concert. I thought the music was fantastic then, but it wasn't until I got home and really listened to the CD did I realize how fantastic it really is. My fiance' loves it too, and he's your typical man's man. I guess I'll lump this music in with New Age, but it is truly the best "listening" CD I own, and I've been buying and playing music for 25 years. I REALLY hope he comes out with another CD because I'd buy it without even hearing it first. I'm off to go try and find any bootleg music of his ....."
A blend of New Age & Jazz to sooth your day

"I took a little daytime getaway to San Francisco yesterday. I live in Brentwood, California, which is about an hour and a half away from SF. While approaching Pier 39, I heard the amazing sounds of this artist, "Lao Tizer," and immediately was moved in its unforgettable sound.

Lao's style is so unique that it's a wonderful experience to listen to his music. Starting his music career off at a very young age, this is his fourth album, but first album with "The Lao Tizer Band". I have to say that the mix of New Age & Jazz in this album compilation is truly sensational.

It's hard to describe what the music sounds like, because you have to hear it for yourself. All of the songs are piano-driven, which is my favorite part, being a pianist myself. My favorite songs are "Golden Soul," "Daybreak," and "What It Is." There is such a jazz influence on this album which makes it all the more likeable. It's filled with lush sounds and a variety of instruments ranging from the piano, obviously, to the saxophone, violin, congas, and even the flute.

Lao uses a definite range of dynamics in his playing. He's definitely one of the most inspirational aritsts I've heard in a long time, and a very promising and dedicated pianist. I had the pleasure of meeting him and having him sign my CD which was quite an honor. I hope to whomever who buys his album loves it and that we'll expect another amazing album from "The Lao Tizer Band" soon!

Oh, and one thing that's probably commonly confused. There are some songs with just Lao Tizer and a few background sounds playing, but this is an album of the pianist Lao Tizer and his band, which includes a guitar, bass player, and drummer.
