La Mafia's "Enter the Future"- Evolution towards greatness
J-Noza | Holland, Michigan | 05/26/2005
(5 out of 5 stars)

"Way back in 1990, before they hit the big time on a international level with "Estas Tocando Fuego," La Mafia released this rare gem, which contains eleven tracks and defines the sound that would elevate La Mafia towards super-stardom. Some fans of La Mafia may not be familiar with this album. For those of you who have ever heard this album, you know why La Mafia hit big in the 90's, and still continues this day as one of the most exciting music artists of our time. Their music on this album is definite Tejano with bits of Norteño flair on some tracks. "Enter the Future" is jam-packed with well-crafted rancheras and cumbias that are sweet as cherry candy, and hit hard right out of the ball park. Songs like "Quiero," "Soy Tuyo," "Cariñito Ven," "Mis Locuras," "Oyeme," and "A Donde Vas," are simply amazing pieces of music. Now known as Oscar de La Rosa, Oscar Gonzalez's vocals on this album are incredible, hitting all kinds of notes and harmony with grace and composure, all the while the rest of the band is tight with musicianship quality that is professional at the highest level and would please any and all fans of the band and those who just simply love music. Mando Lichtenberger,Jr., Leonard Gonzalez, Adolfo Alonso, David de La Garza, Michael Aguilar, and Rick Pitino back up Gonzalez's beautiful, incomparable voice. This album may have been released over fifteen years ago, but it can easily be put up against anything that has come out of Tejano music in the past five to ten years. One of the best albums ever recorded by one of the best, if not the best, the Tejano music industry, and the music industry in general, has to offer. Enough said..."
