Beautiful and grim
Staring Girl | Thornton, CO | 10/07/2005
(5 out of 5 stars)

"La Floa Maldita is an interesting group. The name La Floa Maldita is a term referring to the nice flower that causes death a.k.a, the poppy. The group describes their music much the same way; beautiful with a grim tone. On many of the tracks the music starts off soft and siren then builds into a mound of emotion. On all the tracks, the music is primarily done with keyboards with light percussion here and there and light guitar. All of the tracks have Rhea's soft, sexy yet innocent, beautiful voice. Most of the tracks are sung in French. Though I don't understand French, it's still extremely enjoyable to listen to the music. French is such a romantic and sexy language it's just candy for my ears to listen to the swirling words; especially sung with such a gorgeous voice. Even the tracks that are in English sound exotic and sexy with Rhea's accent.

I found out by going to their website that La Floa Maldita is completely independent. They do not belong to a major label, so all the expenses for their music come out of their own pockets. With this, they get incredible range with their creativity for their music and videos.

If you like melancholy yet beautifully creative music that is tented with a bit of goth then you will enjoy this group. You will crave to listen to this album over and over.
