La Barcha d'Amore is a specially-priced collection of vocal and instrumental music inspired by mythology and 17th-century European love poetry. The album's selections are taken from recordings made between 1976 and 1996 under the labels EMI Electrola, DHM, Astree and Auvidis and from 1998 to 2008 under Alia Vox. Vocal works include selections from Giulio Caccini's Le Nuove Musiche and the touching Elizabethan lullaby ' Une jeune fillette.' Instrumental selections include Samuel Scheidt's Courant dolorosa, Elizabethan favorites 'Desperada' and 'Greensleeves,' as well as Lully's Rondeau from Le Mariage force and the Chaconne from L'Amour Medecin.
