Synopsis

Album Description
2009 reissue of this digitally remastered two-fer from the British Pub-rockers containing a pair of their original albums on one CD: Golden Mile (1976) and 5 Live Kursaals (1977). Golden Mile was a major label record with a proper budget, produced and orchestrated by popmeister Mike Batt...with a full complement of pop gems including the wickedly funny piece of classic radio pop that was 'Little Does She Know' among nine other ready made singles. 5 Live Kursaals was the logical follow-up, a snapshot of their electric live show, by this time surfing more on Power Pop and Punk but still wickedly entertaining in the Essex tradition. Rev-Ola.

CD Reviews

I'm no expert, but I know good music when it buys me a beer.

(5 out of 5 stars)

"Wow, "blows", eh. Now that's incisive commentary. There are some very good reasons someone would be looking for this album. Say, for example, they understand the whole concept of pub rock. Basically local English bands who heard the homespun "country rock" sound of American groups like The Band and The Byrds, and twisted it a little to fit into their lifestyle: a hard laborer's work week followed by an equally determined Friday night pub-crawl.

It's not fancy, it's not loud, but it has a rough hewn realistic beauty. Those who love Brinsley Schwarz, Bees Make Honey or Eggs Over Easy are well advised to pursue this. Typical American headbangers can jolly well sod off."
