Ken Griffin On The Wurlitzer Organ
Richard L. Nellans | Sparta, MI United States | 10/04/2000
(5 out of 5 stars)

"We older citizens all remember Ken Griffin and his beautiful organ renditions. Though he died in the mid 50's at the untimely age of 46, the wonder of his music continues. We heard it at the skating rinks, on the radio, and from his numerous albums and singles. Five Stars is a conservative rating for these 24 wonderful songs in Ken's unique style.Organ renditions of the old favorites are nearly unavailable today. This CD combines two of his most popular albums of these favorites. The albums were "Anniverary Songs" consisting of 12 songs including Because and The Anniversary Waltz. The other album is "Skating Time" which presents another 12 of his favorites such as Twelfth Street Rag, It Had To Be You, and ST Louis Blues. You will enjoy listening."

"I was pleased to purchase this CD of Ken Griffin. It is a very typical and good example of his nostalgic style of organ music. I am, however dissappointed that some of his big hits like Kookoo Waltz, Side By Side and You Can't Be True Dear are missing from the selections on this two album CD. Wish there was a CD of his bigest hits available."
A trip to the past!

"If your Mom and Dad made you take organ (or accordian) lessons in the 1950's or early 60's, then you will enjoy this cd. While some people consider Ken Griffin's style to be boring, I think they would have to admit it's also relaxing. I used to go to a roller skating rink in Fort Dodge, Iowa where they endlessly played Ken Griffin tunes. I wasn't a very good skater and his style kept me upright...but I digress! If you like "Hammond style" organ music as I do, then this is an excellent cd. Enjoy!"
