"Comprised mostly of droning, hissy guitar, and those ever-so-delightful ejaculatory Keiji vocals, this album is wonderfully difficult listening. As the more enlightened among us know, true wisdom only comes with suffering. Keiji offers us a profound and beautiful suffering in his music. Very deep, is he of the Great Pain. I recommend Tenji No Gigenka first and foremost, but all of Keiji's Work is great. Be grateful he has chosen to share his universal empathy with us -- the simple pedestrians of this great reality. Ah ... Keiji."

"It takes a while for this one to get started, with about fifteen minutes of hellish white noise to scare away the weak stomached. But then comes the soft part, and it's one of the most beautiful things I've heard Keiji record. "Nihilism" is not Keiji Haino's best by any means, but it's yet another strong album in his vast discography and is far more brutal, intense and beautiful than anything else released in the 1990s. Give Keiji Haino a spin and hear why I think he's the most important musician walking the planet right now- his music is alien, haunting and compelling, going places even post-rock and noise rock are scared to go."
