Lullaby for Strangers is a delightful follow-up to her critically acclaimed 2005 debut, Scatter Ways. Baird's voice is deep, sleepy and Nico-esque, her instrumentation exotic and imaginative. Her lush arrangements include bells, mbira, guitars, flutes and synthesizers, all orchestrated to outline her careful, but never fussy, song craft. Baird has shared bills with Incredible String Band, Comets on Fire, Acid Mothers Temple and, in late 2005, played Chicago's Two Million Tongues festival, sponsored by The Wire
