UNBELIEVABLE VOICE, A GODDESS OF SONG
03/24/2002
(5 out of 5 stars)

"When The Sun Comes Out
My birthday was ...[a few days ago] and I received this
CD as a present. I set it aside as I never heard of Karen
Mason. A few days later, I slipped it into my CD player
and I am wondering where did this singer come from?
I was elated. I am older and retired and many of these
songs are from the past but Karen Mason has somehow
made them into contemporary songs.
Her voice is absolutely unbelievable. The last true singer
that I can compare her to is Judy Garland. Karen Mason
has such great diction to her voice that you hear every
sound which is incredibly accurate and clear.
All the songs are performed extremely well but I do have
a favorite and that is, Maybe This Time, but I have to agree
that the commercial hit would be Shoot For The Moon.
This is definitely one of the best CD's that I have ever
owned.... I have never heard
a singer like this in a long time! I feel blessed to have the
privilege to hear her sing. A Goddess Of Song.
5 stars (and that is not enough)----- Stars are not a bad place
you will find. They may not get around much. But they sure
know how to Shine ------ "

"*** When The Sun Comes Out ***
I was feeling a bit guilty about leaving a negative review for her CD ** Better Days ** being staged and mechanical. After all, I was an Orphanite for many years and knew her well. That was not Karen. Now I feel vindicated. This is the Karen Mason that I knew. Maybe the review kicked her into gear.
Every Song Is ***S P E C T A C U L A R*** And a great selection too. Move over Streisand. Celine give her some sky. The torch has been passed to Karen! She created a **Masterpiece** with this new CD which will send your emotions running up and down with her strong, clear, crisp, unmistakable vocals where every word is distinct and delivered thoughtfully into making each and every song
her own. These are Karen's songs. Karen's to sing. Karen's to breathe. Karen's to deliver a punch to knock you over or to make you cry. In particular, "Shoot For The Moon" can easily hit the top of the charts with some promotion behind it. This is a platinum CD with a little help from promoters and disc jockies. There is an audience for this CD! Inspirational as "Shoot For The Moon" is, I liken it to the possible success of "You Light Up My Life" by Debbie Boone and "Wind Beneath My Wings" by Bette Midler - "Sleeper Hits" That Went To The Top!
As a lyricist, I find it ironic that the song with the "MOON" is the best in a CD that has "SUN" in the title but then again, Karen Mason can sing the phone book and make it sound good!
You can buy this CD without worry or regrets as you listen to songs that will make you feel like you are receiving a personal performance because *** When The Sun Comes Out *** - Karen Mason Shines!

"Karen Mason has recorded When The Sun Comes Out, a collection of Broadway signatures and pop standards. What impressed me the most about her CD was the cleanness of her voice, and the simple, effective orchestration. Every song came across naturally, and with eyes closed, could have been believable as a live, intimate performance. At times playful, once in a while humorous, the entire CD was pleasant to listen to. At last, I have a heard a cover of "Up On The Roof" that I actually liked. "I Promise You A Happy Ending" was my favorite piece, probably because it sounded like Karen really enjoyed singing it."
